STANDARDS FOR THE PROTECTION OF MINORS APPLICABLE IN THE INTERCOMPANY HOUSING COOPERATIVE "ENERGETYKA"
Standards for protecting children from harm are a set of principles that help create a safe and friendly environment in schools, kindergartens, and other institutions working for children.
In accordance with the Act of July 28, 2023, amending the Family and Guardianship Code and certain other laws (the so-called Act on the Protection of Minors), new instruments for protecting children's rights have been introduced. The Act imposes an obligation on entities working with children to have standards for the protection of minors (also called child protection policies).
What are the benefits of implementing standards for the protection of minors?
• By introducing safe recruitment rules, the institution ensures that no personnel pose a risk to the child’s safety.
• Staff can appropriately respond to suspected child abuse in the institution or family thanks to implemented intervention procedures.
• Thanks to established rules for safe relationships, staff clearly understand the boundaries of professional relationships with children, and which behaviors — from adults towards children or among children themselves — are unacceptable.
• Staff are prepared to identify situations that pose a risk of child abuse and symptoms of abuse, as well as to develop support plans for abused children.
