History
The Sadyba Cultural Education Center, operating under the auspices of the Sadyba Housing Administration, has been active for 50 years. In the 1970s, 1980s, and early 1990s, the institution operated under different names: first as the Sadyba Socio-Educational Center, then as the Neighborhood Socio-Cultural Team. Since 1997, it has been known as the Sadyba Cultural Education Center. Its activities began on November 22, 1972, with a meeting of local seniors at Primary School No. 278 — this marked the founding of the Senior Club. The club was founded by Stanisława and Zbigniew Groll.Between 1972 and 1979, senior gatherings took place at Primary School No. 278, in a hall at Konstancińska Street 3, and at the TKKF "Spartakus" community center at Św. Bonifacego Street 79.On January 7, 1979, the first official meeting in a new venue took place at the OSSA Club at 74/76 Jana III Sobieskiego Street.
On September 1, 1983, the Senior Club was moved to 6 Korczyńska Street. In 1973, two small children’s clubs were established within the Sadyba housing estate: GAPCIO Club (a branch of Kindergarten No. 311), located in the high-rise at 1 Konstancińska Street, apartment 1 MIKI Children’s Club (for children aged 7–12), located at 1 Spalska Street.
In the same year, a model-making workshop for ship and aircraft models was established at 64 Jana III Sobieskiego Street. In 1979, after new rooms were made available in the pavilion at 74/76 Jana III Sobieskiego Street, the OSSA Club began focusing mainly on youth and adults. In addition to regular classes, the club hosted meetings with artists, New Year's Eve parties, carnival balls, and various exhibitions.Since 1983, the Center has been located at 6 Korczyńska Street (formerly a workers’ hostel common room), where it remains to this day.In 1984, the Children’s Club (Klub Malucha) was established and still functions today as a "mini" preschool for children aged 2.5 to 5 years.Throughout the years, the Sadyba Cultural Education Center (OEK "Sadyba") has secured its place in the local community and has also earned recognition beyond the neighborhood. Participation in reviews, competitions, and sports events organized by the housing cooperative, as well as artistic achievements presented during events held by the Department of Culture of the Mokotów District, have led to numerous awards.
As a result of decades of activity, the Center now welcomes the next generations — children of former participants of events and specialized classes.
The Sadyba Cultural Education Center conducts its activities in the fields of cultural promotion, cultural education, as well as sports and recreational initiatives. The Center’s target audience ranges from preschool-aged children to seniors.
The program offers various types of activities: artistic, educational, and recreational-sports. Through artistic and educational initiatives, we teach children and youth creativity, independence, as well as teamwork. Young participants discover and refine their skills while also developing sensitivity, curiosity about the world, and talents. For adults, we provide opportunities for self-fulfillment through the classes and open events we offer.
